Black Rock Resort Elopement in Ucluelet BC

Elopements

A groom holds his bride's ring in his hand during their intimate ceremony at their Black Rock Resort Elopement in Ucluelet BC

If you’re dreaming of a coastal wedding on Vancouver Island, a Black Rock Oceanfront Resort elopement is hard to beat. Located near Tofino on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island, Ucluelet offers a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere while still giving couples access to dramatic beaches, rainforest scenery, and ocean views.

Jessica and Kenton’s intimate elopement day took place in May and honestly felt more like the middle of summer. Warm sunshine, fog drifting across the water, calm ocean air, and quiet beaches made for the perfect west coast setting.

A Slow Morning at Black Rock Resort

The day began inside Black Rock Oceanfront Resort with a slow morning together overlooking the ocean. One of the best parts about planning a Black Rock Resort elopement is that everything can happen in one location without needing to rush around.

Jessica and Kenton started the morning with coffee in their room while getting ready for the day ahead. The large windows and natural light inside the resort created a calm atmosphere and gave us the perfect backdrop for quiet documentary-style moments before the ceremony.

For couples planning a Ucluelet elopement, having space to slow down and actually experience the day together makes a huge difference.

Elopement Ceremony on Brown’s Beach in Ucluelet

Their ceremony took place on Brown’s Beach near the famous Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet BC.

Brown’s Beach is one of the hidden gems near Black Rock Resort because it offers easy access while still feeling private and connected to nature. On this particular May afternoon, fog sat low over the water while the sun broke through above it, creating that classic west coast atmosphere Vancouver Island is known for.

The ceremony itself was simple and intentional with the sound of the ocean in the background and only a few people present. One of the reasons couples choose to elope in Ucluelet is because locations like this allow the focus to stay on the experience rather than the logistics.

Portraits Around Black Rock Resort and Big Beach

After the ceremony, we explored several locations around Black Rock Oceanfront Resort for portraits.

We spent time on Brown’s Beach before heading over to Big Beach beside the resort. Big Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Ucluelet thanks to its rocky shoreline, driftwood, and open ocean views. Even on a bright sunny day, the fog lingering offshore added so much atmosphere to the images.

We also captured portraits inside the hotel itself. Black Rock Resort works incredibly well for elopements because the architecture, oceanfront views, and cozy interiors all photograph beautifully without needing to travel far.

Cake and Charcuterie by the Ocean

The day ended back at the resort with cake and a charcuterie board overlooking the water. Instead of a traditional reception, Jessica and Kenton chose to keep the day relaxed and intentional, focusing on time together rather than a packed timeline.

This is one of the reasons I love photographing Vancouver Island elopements. The day can truly be shaped around what matters most to you rather than expectations or pressure.

Why Choose Black Rock Resort for Your Ucluelet Elopement

Black Rock Oceanfront Resort is one of the best places to stay for a Ucluelet elopement because it gives couples easy access to beaches, rainforest trails, and oceanfront views all within minutes.

Some reasons couples love planning a Black Rock Resort elopement include:

  • Oceanfront accommodations with west coast views

  • Close proximity to the Wild Pacific Trail
  • A quieter alternative to Tofino
  • Beautiful indoor spaces for getting ready and portraits
  • Easy access to beaches without long hikes

Planning a Ucluelet or Tofino Elopement

The west coast of Vancouver Island offers some of the most beautiful elopement locations in British Columbia. Whether you choose Ucluelet or nearby Tofino, you’ll find rugged beaches, coastal rainforest, dramatic weather, and quiet moments that make for an unforgettable wedding experience.

Jessica and Kenton’s Black Rock Resort elopement was the perfect example of how meaningful a simple wedding day can feel when you slow down and fully experience it together.

Vancouver Island is one of those places that doesn’t need much added to it. The landscape does the heavy lifting, you just get to show up and experience it.
